Above My Paygrade?

In recent months, I have heard several people excuse themselves from involving themselves in a particular situation by saying, “That’s above my pay grade!” Most of the time, it was a situation which called for someone to speak up about a particular issue; oftentimes, it is an issue where justice is concerned.
In our world today, many leaders seem concerned about respecting protocol. They seem more concerned about doing things right than doing the right thing. Some of the greatest leaders – such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., Winston Churchill, and Abraham Lincoln – didn’t always respect protocol. They did the right thing!

Don’t sacrifice justice at the altar of protocol! “Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24).
